“It’s a new dawn, It’s a new day”

It’s a New Dawn, It’s a New Day! There is one musician who I have been listening to since my teen years the Priestess of Soul, Nina Simone. The title of this painting is from music lyrics from the song “Feeling Good” written by British songwriters Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse.

Nina’s version of the song was released during the civil rights protests and the movement’s desire for freedom. You can feel the honesty and connection to the lyrics in her deep rich tenor. Although I have heard many versions of this song, even intertwined in electronic remixes, Nina’s original version buries itself deep within my heart.
