Georgia O’Keeffe Exhibition

My husband, daughter and I took a trip to the de Young Museum to view the traveling Georgia O’Keeffe exhibition. The curator really showed her work to its full advantage with the lights dimmed and spotlights on each painting. The exhibition drew you into the artist personality with her quotes on the wall. It truly was wonderful to see such a large selection of her life’s work. This exhibition has inspired me to someday travel to New Mexico to the visit the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum.

I find this quote of Georgia’s humorous because I use models for my work. “I hate flowers – I paint them because they’re cheaper than models and they don’t move. ” – Georgia O’Keeffe

Richard Diebenkorn Exhibit

I had a wonderful day at the De Young Museum going to the last week of the Richard Diebenkorn Exhibit. I’ve talked about the Bay Area Figurative Movement in my art classes and have showed prints of his artwork to students. However, there is not comparison to the real thing which I always stress. It’s so important to visit galleries and museums to really see the artwork and connect with it.  Seeing such a large collection of his work in person was such a treat. Here is a link to view richard diebenkorn images .
