Wow, this month is getting busier and busier. I am preparing for my residency that starts in the middle of October and Open Studios. My studio at the residency will also be open to the public the weekend of October 21 and October 22. I envision lots of talking next month while I am painting. Painting is usually a solitary activity for me so that weekend will definitely mix up my painting energy. I’m curious to see how, if at all, this will affect my work. I ‘ve painted at live painting events in the past but those experiences have been during music events. This will definitely be a lot different.
So, I have been slowly plugging away on my color studies and already ordered materials for the residency. The amount I have to get done in the next two weeks is daunting. However, I know from past experiences that it is better to be prepared.
Received a congratulatory letter from the Ely Center of Contemporary Art (ECOCA) last weekend. I will be one of there artist in residence this fall. I look forward to meeting other artists and having time to focus on some larger work. It’s going to be a productive fall.
