In the Studio

Primed 140 lb paper for a new grouping of figurative works on paper. When the paper is finished drying I am going flatten all the sheets so the surface is nice and smooth. The other images are works in progress. This weekend although I will be spending some time in the studio I am going to enjoy this Earth Day Weekend and go for a hike. I am also attending an exhibition at the Thomas Reynolds Gallery celebrating the work of Theophilus Brown. Check out this link for more details.

William Theophilus Brown

William Theophilus Brown
April 7, 1919 – February 8, 2012

When I heard about Theophilus’s passing a feeling of appreciation went through me. My connection to this Bay Area Figurative artist started in 2003 when I was first introduced to his work. His worked called to me because of his classical studies of the human form and how he pushed those boundaries. In 2009, Theophilus Brown was the juror for an exhibition in which I won an award. That was a great honor and I am truly grateful for his inspiring words. Thank you William Theophilus Brown for being part of such an influential art movement and for being such an inspiration.
