William Theophilus Brown
April 7, 1919 – February 8, 2012
When I heard about Theophilus’s passing a feeling of appreciation went through me. My connection to this Bay Area Figurative artist started in 2003 when I was first introduced to his work. His worked called to me because of his classical studies of the human form and how he pushed those boundaries. In 2009, Theophilus Brown was the juror for an exhibition in which I won an award. That was a great honor and I am truly grateful for his inspiring words. Thank you William Theophilus Brown for being part of such an influential art movement and for being such an inspiration.
